Ryan, a 2020 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law, is a skilled criminal defense attorney at the Mobile County Public Defender’s Office with extensive trial experience. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, following Alabama sports, and relaxing on the water with his dog, Copper.

Ryan attended The University of Alabama School of Law on an Academic Excellence Scholarship and received his J.D. in 2020 with certificates in Comparative International Law and Public Interest Law. Ryan was recognized as a member of the Order of the Samaritan and the Bench and Bar Honor Society, which comprises only 10% of the law school’s student body. While in law school, Ryan interned with Judge L. Scott Coogler in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, former Alabama Supreme Court Justice John H. England in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court, and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

Upon graduating law school, Ryan helped establish the Mobile County Public Defender’s Office where he has practiced since. Ryan joins us as the youngest member of their murder team and brings a wealth of winning trial experience — having conducted everything from misdemeanor bench trials to capital murder jury trials with a record of 13-3 in felony jury trials. Ryan is excited to bring his skills to the A-Team and continue providing zealous and aggressive, client-centric representation to those in need.

When Ryan isn’t fighting for his clients in the courtroom, he likes to relax by cooking an overly complicated meal and spending time with his friends and family. Ryan is passionate about all sports, particularly Alabama football and basketball, and he enjoys spending time on the water with his Boykin Spaniel, Copper. Ryan has a little brother who is a member of the Auburn University Fishing Team and an older sister who is a neurophysiologist with a lab at UAB.

Ryan was born and raised in the small town of Roanoke, Alabama by a family consisting of many lawyers.  As such, Ryan has known from a young age that he has a passion for the law and helping people in need access legal services and navigate the legal process. Ryan graduated from Handley High School in 2013, and then attended The University of Alabama where he received his B.A. in Philosophy of Law and Developmental Psychology in 2017.
