Professional Background and Legal Philosophy
Ryan attended The University of Alabama School of Law on an Academic Excellence Scholarship and received his J.D. in 2020 with certificates in Comparative International Law and Public Interest Law. Ryan was recognized as a member of the Order of the Samaritan and the Bench and Bar Honor Society, which comprises only 10% of the law school’s student body. While in law school, Ryan interned with Judge L. Scott Coogler in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, former Alabama Supreme Court Justice John H. England in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court, and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
After graduating from law school, Ryan played a pivotal role in establishing the Mobile County Public Defender’s Office, where he developed a strong foundation in criminal defense. As a key member of their murder team, he gained extensive trial experience, handling cases ranging from misdemeanor bench trials to capital murder jury trials. With an impressive record of 13-3 in felony jury trials, Ryan has proven his skill in the courtroom. Now, he brings his expertise and dedication to client-centered advocacy to the A-Team, where he continues to provide zealous and aggressive representation for those in need.
When Ryan isn’t fighting for his clients in the courtroom, he likes to relax by cooking an overly complicated meal and spending time with his friends and family. Ryan is passionate about all sports, particularly Alabama football and basketball, and he enjoys spending time on the water with his Boykin Spaniel, Copper. Ryan has a little brother who is a member of the Auburn University Fishing Team and an older sister who is a neurophysiologist with a lab at UAB.
