At Andy Citrin Injury Attorneys, we know that our communities thrive when people have what they need to succeed. This includes everyone from people with devastating personal injuries to children doing their best in school.
In fact, we believe in fighting for our community’s kids as strongly as we do for our personal injury clients. That’s why we decided jump in to do our part to make sure the kids at our local elementary schools can look forward to each day knowing they have what they need. In this case, this includes a backpack full of school supplies through an initiative called Project Backpack.
Our team is committed to supplying local schoolchildren with backpacks stuffed with pencils, crayons, notebooks, and other supplies, which ensures that these students have everything they need to finish this unusual school year on the right foot. And we won’t stop until every elementary schooler in the cities we serve has the school supplies they need.
“We started Project Backpack to give every student a winning edge for their upcoming school year,” said Andy Citrin. “By donating 1,600 backpacks full of supplies to three of our area’s neediest schools we have taken action to improve our communities. Our firm practices law by setting goals, being proactive and winning. We want to extend those same principles to these kids.”
Starting in 2021, elementary students across Mobile and Baldwin County will receive a free backpack full of supplies when they return to school. The Andy Citrin team chose schools near to their office locations with the highest percentage of students in need.
Citrin Team Celebrates Memorable First Annual Drop-Off Event
We were thrilled to host Project Backpack giveaway events at three different schools in January, 2021: Arlington Elementary School in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Gilliard Elementary School in Mobile, Alabama, and Magnolia Elementary School in Foley, Alabama. Every giveaway event felt like a cheerful pep rally. Cheerleaders, football players, bands, and even school mascots were there to cheer the young students on.
One administrator from Gilliard Elementary said, “The backpacks are a definite need, especially this time of year coming back from the Christmas holidays. The kids’ backpacks are worn, torn, and broken, so this is the perfect time to supply them with the things that they need.”
“We want to help families; try to help families who are trying to put groceries on the table and trying to pay bills,” said attorney Michael Fondren. “A lot of people during COVID have lost their jobs, so it’s very important to us and to the community to help out.”
Teachers and school professionals smiled as children chose their backpacks, and kids were thrilled at the supplies inside.
One young student, Destiny Daniels said, “it’s kind of like a blessing, because some people can’t have backpacks for the school year, so it really helps other students.”
Our Goals for Project Backpack: Happy Kids, Healthy Communities
Andy Citrin Injury Attorneys will host the second Project Backpack event in August 2021 and select two additional schools in Mobile and Baldwin County. The annual “Back to School” Project Backpack event will kick off the new school year every August.
“We are so excited to launch Project Backpack and donate 1,600 backpacks to 1,600 smiling faces,” says Andy Citrin. “Our kids are our future. My law firm is committed to making sure they have all the tools they need to succeed. Our goal is to keep giving until we’ve reached every young child in Mobile and Baldwin County.”
