Jury Awards $1.954 Million Verdict Against Dollar General For Negligently Maintained Ramp

Mobile, Ala. – On March 15, 2023, a Mobile County, Alabama jury found that Dollar General negligently maintained a backdoor delivery ramp which led to a delivery driver’s injuries and returned a $1,954,024.00 verdict against the corporation.

The incident occurred at a Dollar General Store on University Avenue in Mobile, Alabama on April 20, 2019. The delivery driver was loading an approximately 1,000-pound rolltainer containing cases of bottled water into the store when the ramp that he was standing on gave way and did not hold in deteriorated gravel. He suffered permanent injuries due to the fall. He had two surgeries and intense physical therapy.
