GE Dishwashers Recalled

GE Dishwasher Recall

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and GE have issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1.3 million dishwashers due to a fire hazard. The recall effects GE, GE Adora, GE Eterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint dishwashers.

GE has received several reports of an electrical failure with the dishwasher’s heating element. There have been seven reports of fires, three of which caused extensive property damage.

The dishwashers were sold nationwide from March 2006 to August 2009. The cost of the dishwashers ranged from $350 to $850.

Government officials urge consumers to stop using the dishwashers immediately and disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker.

GE will provide free repairs for the dishwashers or rebates towards a new machine. For additional information about the recall, call GE at (866) 918-8760 or visit their website.
